Alhaj Syed Mohammad Faisal, the BNP-elected Member of Parliament from the Habiganj-4 constituency (Madhabpur–Chunarughat), has expressed his commitment to repaying the trust and love of the people through development in both upazilas.
While exchanging greetings with residents following his victory, he offered prayers for the departed souls of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and the party’s founder, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. He said he feels deeply indebted for being nominated with the party’s “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol and expressed gratitude to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman for his trust and support.
Faisal stated that the love and support he received from the people of Madhabpur and Chunarughat are beyond repayment. “I want to repay this debt by ensuring development in both areas,” he said. He particularly thanked party leaders and activists, members of the Hindu community, and tea workers, saying their overwhelming support exceeded his expectations.
He pledged that all residents of Madhabpur and Chunarughat would enjoy equal opportunities and benefits. “There will be no discrimination, no terrorism, and no extortion. Development will take place in every area on the basis of equality,” he assured.
He made these remarks during victory greetings on Thursday night and throughout Friday in Madhabpur and Chunarughat upazilas.
Among those present were his brother and former Upazila Chairman Syed Mohammad Shahjahan, Engineer Syed ABM Humayun, Syed Selim, his eldest son Engineer Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed (Managing Director of Sayham Cotton Mills), Syed Safkat Ahmed (Managing Director of Sayham Knit Composite), former Chunarughat Upazila Chairman Syed Liaquat Hasan, Chunarughat Upazila BNP President Advocate Monirul Islam, General Secretary Advocate Sirajul Islam, former Mayor Nazimuddin Shamsu, Upazila BNP President Shamsul Islam Kamal, Municipal BNP President Golap Khan, General Secretary Alauddin Al Rony, Organizing Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Sohag, Shamsul Islam Mamun, former Mayor Habibur Rahman, former President Abdul Aziz, and many other party leaders and activists.
After unofficial election results were announced, thousands of supporters from both upazilas greeted him with bouquets. Supporters continued offering flowers throughout Friday.
Instead of holding a victory celebration, BNP leaders and supporters organized a prayer gathering after Friday prayers at Noapara Saheb Bari Jame Mosque, seeking forgiveness and blessings for the late Begum Khaleda Zia.
