Alhaj GK Gauch, the BNP candidate and Central Organizing Secretary of the party, has been elected Member of Parliament from the Habiganj-3 constituency (Sadar–Lakhai–Shaistaganj) in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Shortly after securing victory, he visited the home of his rival candidate, Jamaat-e-Islami district secretary Kazi Mohsin Ahmed. On Friday afternoon, GK Gauch went to Kazi Mohsin’s residence in the Anantapur area, where the two leaders warmly embraced each other. Kazi Mohsin welcomed the newly elected MP with a bouquet of flowers, creating a cordial and respectful atmosphere.
Among those present were District BNP Joint Convener Haji Enamul Haque, Advocate Nurul Islam, Union Parishad Chairman Golam Kibria Chowdhury Belal, District Jubo Dal Convener Jalal Ahmed, Member Secretary Shafiqul Rahman Situ, Chhatra Dal President Shah Rajib Ahmed Ringon, Municipal Jamaat Ameer Atikul Islam Sohag, Mir Jamilunnabi Faisal, and around fifty party leaders and activists.
Speaking at the gathering, Kazi Mohsin Ahmed said that such goodwill in politics is something everyone hopes to see. He noted that both leaders had long worked together in movements against fascism and had cooperated under GK Gauch’s leadership. He added that although they belong to different political parties, they are ultimately members of the same society. Political competition should exist, he said, but not hostility or hatred.
In response, newly elected MP GK Gauch stated that the two leaders consider each other brothers. While he received nomination from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Kazi Mohsin from Jamaat-e-Islami, they remain neighbors and share mutual respect. He emphasized that hatred and resentment should not define politics. Referring to the consequences of political violence, he said that the current condition of certain parties serves as a warning. He expressed his desire to work with input from all sides to ensure the development of the constituency.
